Patna, Jan. 22: The state capital is set to join an elite league of cities famous for their son et lumiere (light and sound) shows.

Be it the walls of the Golghar heritage warehouse or the Mahendru Ghat along the Ganga, laser beam shows at these places are set to take the residents into a 3D zone of story telling. Even the historic Gandhi Maidan could be the city’s version of the famous Canterbury Cathedral in England.

Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation (BSTDC) has selected three firms to start the work for the first laser beam and light shows. The work for the projects is likely to be over by the end of April.

BSTDC officials said the respective work orders were likely to be issued within a couple of days. “Three firms have been short-listed for the sound, light and laser shows at Gol Ghar, Mahendru Ghat and Gandhi Maidan. The final work orders for the three locations could be issued within a couple of days. The three firms are Wizcraft, Premier World Technology Ltd and Hong Kong-based BNA Technology Consulting Ltd. The final decision on the work order would be taken after the three firms submit their financial bids,” Shailendra Kumar, the general manager of BSTDC, said.

“By introducing these sound, light and laser shows, we want to attract more domestic as well as international tourists into the city,” he added.

Sources in the tourism department told The Telegraph that the scheme included mounting of laser shows, video projection and sound and light shows at the three spots. Special arrangements would be made for water projections through laser and light shows.

The sources added that apart from the laser lights, 3D projections with video imaging would be used for depicting different stories at each location according to the requirements of BSTDC. Moreover, a viewers’ gallery and control room, approved by a professional architect, would be provided at these locations. Apart from these, musical fountains would be arranged at the three places.
