Chhapra, Sept. 2: Three murders in the district in less than 24 hours have sent shockwaves across the town and have rattled the police here.

The first incident was reported on Wednesday night, when one Vinod Sah was murdered. The deceased was the brother of a criminal Rajan Sah. The police said the murder was the outcome of a gang rivalry.

In the second incident, criminals shot dead one Manoranjan Kumar Yadav, the son of a local businessman Uday Narayan Yadav around 9am on Thursday.

The incident occurred at Vishunpura village under Chhapra mufassil police station.

The assailants first called the deceased outside his house and fired bullets at him after taking him to the roadside where other assailants were waiting. They fled on a bike after committing the crime. Uday has lodged an FIR against five persons.

In the third incident on Thursday at 8pm a village doctor, Harendra Giri (38), was shot dead at Bishambharpur Giri Tola village under Derni police station. Criminals attacked Giri when he was leaving his clinic for his house.

Giri’s brother Hari Krishna Giri has lodged an FIR against five persons. He said the murder of his brother was fallout of a land dispute.

One accused Laleshwar Giri was arrested. “The police are conducting raids to nab the rest of the persons involved in the crime,” station house in-charge Satyendra Kumar said.
