Calcutta got one more app cab on Wednesday.

OTL Cab by Orientation Transport & Logistics Pvt Ltd, which provides cars to Sector V companies, promises not to have "ridiculous fares".

"We will charge a base price of Rs 51 and Rs 10 for every kilometre for sedans," Adhrik Roy, MD of OTL Cab, said while launching the app cab. "For hatchbacks, the base price will be Rs 35 and Rs 9/km. There will be no surge pricing or ride time charges." But the company will charge service tax.

The business model is different too. "We are taking cars on lease for three years and paying owners a monthly rental of Rs 22,000-30,000." Roy said every cab would be monitored through GPS and remain under CCTV surveillance 24x7. "The app will have a panic button and there will be one behind the driver's seat from September 1."

Drivers will be on the company's payroll with PF and ESI medical facilities apart from incentives, bonus and increments, Roy said. Women drivers will comprise 35 per cent of OTL Cab's driver strength.
