Jawan kills colleague

Balurghat, July 5: Ram Kishan, 32, a border security force (BSF) jawan was killed when his colleague M. Kartikayan, 28, fired point blank from his self- loading rifle at Padma Kumari border outpost in Kushmandi police station area today.

“Kishan, who hails from Bihar, was on duty with Kartikayan like any other day. But his colleague fired at him following an altercation over some issue,”said S.M.H. Mirza, the subdivisional police officer of Gangarampur.

Kartikayan fled after the incident. “We have alerted all the adjoining police stations to look for him,” he said..

Commandant of the BSF Sanjay Singh and additional superintendent of police Subhasis Chatterjee, were among the other senior officials, who visited the spot.
