A cyber crime police station inaugurated in Salt Lake on Wednesday. The new police station will only deal with complaints against Web-related crimes. The Bidhannagar commissionerate has for the past few years had a cyber crime cell on the top floor of its head office opposite AMRI, Salt Lake. The new police station has three rooms on the first floor of Bidhannagar North police station in DF block. It will have 13 personnel, including one inspector. “The cyber crime police station will handle all offences falling under the Information Technology Act. People can directly go to the cyber police station and lodge a complaint or visit the nearest police station with their grievance, which will then be transferred to the new police station,” said Kankar Prasad Barui, the deputy commissioner, detective department, Bidhannagar.
