Sir Chris Patten, the former governor of Hong Kong and the current co-chairman of International Crisis Group, was in town on Thursday to deliver a lecture at the Rabindranath Tagore Centre, ICCR. Also the chancellor of Oxford University, Patten said there were 281 Indian students studying in graduate and postgraduate courses in Oxford as against 740 students from China. “I am keen to increase the number of Indian students and also the number of scholarships available.” Bollywood, of course, knows him as the father of Alice Patten, Aamir Khan’s love interest in Rang De Basanti. The self-confessed Aamir fan said on the sidelines: “He is a very intelligent actor and a good person. I got to know what a superstar he was when after he came to meet me at the Taj Mahal hotel, the waiters started treating me like an emperor!” Picture by Sanat Kr Sinha |
