Kamal Raza, general manager of The LaLit Great Eastern Kolkata, is foraying into the film industry. He made his debut in the Abhay Deol-starrer Velle, which released in 2021. A small role, but it gave him big confidence. In his sophomore project, Romeo S3, starring Palak Tiwari in the lead, which released on May 16, Raza plays a Pakistani diplomat.

Talking about the project and his character, Raza told t2: “This is the first time that I am playing a character with negative shades wherein I have portrayed a Pakistani diplomat’s role in a United Nations meeting. I’m excited to explore this new aspect of my persona and bring depth to the role.” Raza is seen sporting a beard and sitting with other delegates in a set-up that is inspired by the UN headquarters.

Talking about taking inspiration for his character, he said: “I drew inspiration from real-life observations and studied various portrayals of complex characters in films and literature. I wanted to bring a unique perspective to my character while staying true to the story’s essence. What made him opt for the role? “The script and the character’s importance drew me in. I was intrigued by the nuances of the role and the opportunity to play a character that challenges the audience’s perceptions,” said Raza who informs that working with team Velle, his first film, was a learning experience and a turning point in his life.

Raza has a few more acting projects in hand, including a film that has Nawazuddin Siddiqui in the lead. “Apart from the film that has Nawazuddin Siddiqui, I’m currently discussing a few projects, including a web series and a feature film. I’m excited to explore different genres and collaborate with talented creators,” he signed off.
