“With the introduction of the smart public transport system and embracing the e-mobility plan for the city thereby lessening burden on the environment, Bhubaneswar contributes its bit in developing sustainable mobility choices in the category of million-plus cities,” reads the report.

The survey has been conducted in three categories – metro cities, booming cities and promising cities. Bhubaneswar has been surveyed in the third category where cities such as Kohima, Vijaywada, Mysuru, Jammu, Jabalpur and Nanded found place. The state capital topped in its category when it comes to the overall score.

Various aspects were explored in the survey that included infrastructure, sustainability, people’s approach, mobility planning and shared and electric mobility. In reliability, the survey has put the city in the second position as majority of the responded participated in the survey find public transport reliable.

The survey revealed that when it came to mode of preference, 35 per cent people prefer to travel by buses and other such public transport mode while only six per cent preferred auto-rickshaw and another 11 per cent preferred taxi or cab. A mere four per cent preferred non-motorised transport while a highest of 44 per cent people preferred personal vehicles.
