Guwahati, Dec. 10: Assam under-25 player Sunil Ranjan Gogoi today scored an unbeaten century to help Navajyoti Club register an emphatic 72-run victory over Genesis Club to book a semi-final berth in the Ratanlal Singhania and Mohini Devi Singhania Trophy Ankurjyoti Challenge cricket tournament.
Put to bat first at Judges Field here, Navajyoti piled up 250 for six in the stipulated 35 overs and Genesis were restricted to 178 for seven in the 35 overs. Gogoi slammed the Genesis bowlers across the park to remain unbeaten on 110. He faced 109 balls to hammer 12 hits to the ropes and a towering six.
Besides, Arminder Singh Oberoi scored a strokeful 69, hitting four fours and five sixes facing 54 deliveries. Bitop Mahanta also contributed a quickfire 22 (4x2, 6x1).
Bicky Rajjak of Genesis took the scalp of three for 53 and Imamul Haque picked up two for 33.
Debajit Baruah also scored an unbeaten 101 (4x13, 6x1) for Genesis which, however, went in vain as the other batsmen went a little too slow in scoring for the side. Kangkan Das (22, 4x4) and Anup Ghosh (14) were the other notable scorers.
Bikash Chetri of Navajyoti Club notched up three wickets for 31 runs.
Gauhati Town Club will meet Maharana Athletic Club in a first round match tomorrow.
