Royals raring to go in Fed Cup

Shillong, Sept. 11: Fresh from the triumph in the championship title of the Shillong Premier League, Royal Wahingdoh FC will open their Federation Cup qualifying campaign against Calcutta-based Kalighat MS tomorrow at the JRD Tata sports complex in Jamshedpur.

The Royals are looking to build on their impressive debut campaign in the Federation Cup last year where they had a five-match winning streak right from the qualifiers ousting big teams like Mohun Bagan and Churchill Brothers.

For the last few days, the Shillong-based team has been training hard in Jamshedpur.

Royal Wahingdoh has been grouped with Kalighat MS (Kolkata) and Vasco SC (Goa).

Should the team qualify for the main draw, Royal Wahingdoh would encounter teams like East Bengal and Sporting Clube de Goa in Siliguri.

The team includes Saroj Pradhan, Kunzang Bhutia, Nikhil Bernard, Kareem Nurain, Romenjit Singh, Algan Sun, Malsawmtluanga, Zosangkima, Lalnunpuia, Jackichand Singh, Ennio Di Silva, Reagan Singh, Milancy Khongstia, Rodin Sangma, Ladinmawia, Seityasen Singh, Bekay Bawar, Lalchhawnkima, Chencho, Lalhmaingahsanga. The coaches are L. Nandakumar Singh and Carlton Chapman.
