Ganesh Gogoi and Ananda Chandra Barua, fondly known to lovers of Assamese poetry as Paporir Kobi and Bokul Bonor Kobi respectively, are unquestionably two representatives of the rich tradition of Assamese poetry. An album, Papori Aru Bokul, was released on the birth centenary of the poets as a tribute to their literary genius.

The album contains eight immortal songs whose lyrics have been penned by the two poets. Presented by Paraj Bakul Barua, the album features singer Shubhra Barua’s rendition of all eight numbers. The music complements the lyrics. The prologue is by Union minister Bijoy Krishna Handique.

Gogoi is romantic and Ananda Chandra Barua’s command over sensitivity and restraint is evident, especially in the numbers Konthot Ase Baani Madhur, Bisari Bator Bakul Bon and Aji Godhuli Mor Podulit.

Shubhra, musician Hiren Gohain and the instrumentalists leave their mark on the listeners.
