The Digital Transformation Award received by Goalpara for its infrastructure snapshot app in the Governance Now Digital Transformation Summit in New Delhi on Thursday was brought to the district on Saturday by additional deputy commissioner Ashraful Amin.
Governance Now is supported by the Union ministry of electronics and information technology, power and NITI Ayog. The lower Assam district got the award in two categories — digital services and mobile app.
The infrastructure snapshot is an Android-based convergence app developed specifically for infrastructure monitoring of public institutions and government schemes. It was developed by Guwahati-based company Web.com (India) Pvt Ltd, under the guidance of Goalpara deputy commissioner Varnali Deka.
Since the launch of the app, there has been rigorous and regular monitoring of governmental schemes and an increment in the resolution rate of complaints and public grievances.
A major highlights of the app has been a significant improvement in the nature of follow-up inspection. Details of grievances with photo and location are uploaded on the app and the departments concerned swing into action, thereby saving precious hours of the state machinery.
The app enables cross-checking of schemes by government officials, third parties and members of the public. It is also an instant tool for reporting cases of natural disaster, violence and domestic violence.
Besides, this app addresses rural connectivity issues by way of offline loading and authentication of geographical data to prevent spurious ones from aggravating any situation, including law and order.
An interesting feature of the app is that an instant snapshot of the entire district is available on it.The app helps in identifying the administration’s areas of focus, promotes good governance and enables best provision of public service delivery.Several organisations have congratulated the district administration for its feat.
“I am proud that our effort is recognised and request all officials to create an awareness about the app so that this can be utilised to help people,” Deka said.
