Ranchi, March 10: The CPM will field two former MLAs in two Lok Sabha seats of the state, namely Ranchi and Rajmahal.
Announcing this at a press meet at the CPIM office in Ranchi, the party’s politburo member, Brinda Karat, said that while Rajendra Singh Munda will contest from Ranchi, Jyotin Soren will be the party’s candidate for the Rajmahal seat in Santhal Pargana.
Karat also revealed that the CPM would support other left parties in five other parliamentary seats of the state, although it was yet to take a call on supporting other, like-minded parties from the remaining seven Lok Sabha seats of the state.
While CPI would contest from three seats _ Hazaribagh, Chatra and Dumka _ Marxist Coordination Committee (MCC) would field a candidate from the Dhanbad seat, she said. CPI(ML) would contest from Koderma.
CPI(ML) will, however, be adhering to this arrangement only partially. While it would support the CPM candidate in Rajmahal and MCC candidate in Dhanbad, it would contest against left candidates in a few other seats. CPI(ML) central committee member Anant Prasad Sinha said their party would field its own candidates in eight Lok Sabha seats of the state. These were Ranchi, Lohardaga, Palamau, Hazaribagh, Chatra, Koderma, Dumka and Godda.
“We have made it clear that we will support CPM candidate in Rajmahal and MCC candidate in Dhanbad where we don’t have our candidates. In return, will expect the other left parties to support us in Koderma as they will have no candidate there,” said Sinha.
