Fifty-three young managers passed out of Amity Global Business School at the concluding ceremony on May 29. As almost all of them have been placed, the students were full of exuberance.

Even on the final day, institute director CBP Srivastva had a success mantra for the students. “Stick to good work habits for overall development,” he said.

Praising the enthusiasm of the young managers, he added that they should strive to the serve the nation with full commitment.

Bihar State Education Infrastructure Development Corporation managing director and special secretary to the education department, Sanjeevan Sinha, also attended the programme.

He emphasised the importance of proactive initiatives of the government in developing higher education.

At the convocation ceremony, graduates were given awards for academic excellence.

Meet for teachers

Aspiring teachers learnt about career opportunities at workshop at St Xavier’s College of Education on May 29.

Moni Sahay, regional director, Indira Gandhi National Open University, Patna, interacted with 220 BEd students at the workshop.

She also gathered feedback about the experience of the students. “Imparting education is a challenge in society. Teachers are the builders of the state.

All of you (students) will carry the training you get at the institute into society, where you will perform a very important duty.”

Sahay also asked the students to concentrate on their study material to pick up essential skills.

Farewell party

Students of the MBA department of LN Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change organised a farewell party for their final-year seniors on May 31.

Students imitated the moves of Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone and let their hair down while dancing to hits like Balam pichkari… and Badtameez dil… from the recent blockbuster Yeh Jawani Hai Deewani.

They also sashayed down the ramp.

Jagannath Mishra, the former chief minister and chairman of the college, told the students to take a keen interest in cultural activities and sports along with academics in order to become successful.

Ragging guard

The first meeting of the anti-ragging committee of Patna College was held on May 30.

Members of the committee said the students of the new batch would start coming to college from July and the administration needs to be on the guard to prevent ragging and molestation on campus.

Virendra Jha, convener, Patna College anti-ragging committee, said: “Supreme Court has asked educational institutions across the country to ensure that students are not ragged.

“Those found guilty of ragging would be expelled from the institution and a criminal case filed against them.”

Dual degrees

National Institute of Technology, Patna, would soon launch an MTech-PhD dual degree programme on the lines of IIT-Bombay.

The director of the institute, Ashok Dey, said students would be able to achieve both the degrees in four years instead of six years as required earlier.

“The less time required and various facilities and scholarships would encourage students to take up research work,” he said.

LN Mishra Institute of Economic Development and Social Change has also decided to start dual degree programmes at its governing body meeting on May 27.

Jagannath Mishra, the chairman of the institute, and other officials of the institute took part in the meeting.

It was also decided to start a two-year MBA degree, and degree and diploma courses in food processing.

Eco institution

The government would open a college of forestry and environmental sciences under Bihar Agriculture University, Sabour.

The college would offer a four-year and a one-year degree courses besides postgraduate courses in different disciplines.

Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi revealed this plan during a meeting of forests department on May 30.

Students would be able to take admission next year.
