Calcutta: Romping home to an eight-wicket victory against minnows Hong Kong in their Asia Cup opener in Dubai on Sunday, Pakistan appear to be a pretty confident side as they await India in their next game, which is on Wednesday.
The team is ready for India, who remain a formidable unit despite actual captain Virat Kohli's absence, said captain Sarfraz Ahmed.
"To win against India, we have to be at our best in all the three departments... We are ready for India, though," Sarfraz said during the post-match presentation.
Despite Pakistan having it very easy in their opening match, Sarfraz feels there's still scope for improvement. According to him, there are a couple of areas where his team needs to work on.
"This was indeed a complete performance. But as captain, I saw a couple of things where we need to work on.
"For us to go the distance in the tournament, we should have won this game by nine or all 10 wickets. We also need to get early wickets with the new ball and bowl better with it.
"Early on, the ball didn't swing and it's alarming for us. We have a bit of time to adjust before the India game, but as I said, we have to be on top of our game against India," Sarfraz elaborated.
Left-arm seamer Usman Khan was adjudged Man of the Match for his three wickets, conceding only 19 runs.
"I thank the Almighty and my parents... Obviously, when I came to bowl in the first spell, I tried to pick wickets with the new ball. But I didn't have luck.
"In the second spell, I got the ball to reverse swing and I managed to take wickets," he said.
Usman had a bit of a fitness issue, but he said he was feeling all right. "My fitness is okay. There was just a little bit of bleeding in the toe. I just slipped a little bit, so I thought it would be safe to get it checked," he said.
"I'm happy with my bowling and it has given me lots of confidence. It's fun to play with a lot of strong players on the bench. All of us are good bowlers, we compete against each other, and hopefully we can keep going forward and trying hard," Usman added.
On the other hand, a dejected Hong Kong captain Anshuman Rath said: "There were a lot of soft dismissals and 116 is just not good enough.
"Credit goes to the Pakistani bowlers as well, but I think there were too many soft dismissals which made matters easier for our opponents."
