Pune: In a setback to All India Football Federation’s (AIFF) plans, Dutchman Raymond Libregts has expressed his inability to become India’s youth coach.

According to sources, the 48-year-old, who was in India for the last four days and travelled to Bangalore and Calcutta to look at the under-22 national team and Pailan Arrows, said he would not be in a position to accept the job.

“There is no time left to bring a new coach for the under-22 team as the last date for registration for the Asian championship is May 23,” said an official. The team is now likely to be coached by Narayan Menon.

Sources said Libregts was also upset after he received the news that his elder daughter was involved in a bike accident in the Netherlands, on Thursday. Libregts has already left for Amsterdam.
