Nagpur: IM R.B. Ramesh scored a crafty win over GM and top seed Koneru Humpy in the seventh round of the National B chess championship on Monday.

The win helped Ramesh emerge sole leader with 6.5 points. Rahul Shetty, B.S. Shivanandan and M.R. Venkatesh were tied for 2nd place with 6 points each.

Overnight joint-leader Venkatesh drew with second seed Sriram Jha, T.S. Ravi drew with S. Satyapragyan, while D.V. Prasad signed truce with C.S. Gokhale.

Among Bengal players, Roktim drew with Amit Pal Singh (5.5), Suvrajit Saha (5) drew with J. Ramakrishna, Arghyadip beat Nassir Wajih (4.5), Saptarshi beat Anand Awadhia (4.5) and Atanu defeated Pratik Shriwas (4.5).
