Calcutta: A little over a month has passed since four stands at Eden Gardens were named after B.N. Dutt, Jagmohan Dalmiya, Pankaj Roy and Sourav Ganguly. But on Sunday, the handful of spectators present during the Vijay Hazare Trophy match noticed that some alphabets were missing from the panels that had the names on them.
Only Dalmiya’s name remained intact. The initials ‘B’ and ‘N’ were missing from Dutt, alphabets ‘P’ and ‘J’ were absent from Pankaj, while ‘S’ and ‘O’ were not there in Sourav.
A senior CAB official said the adhesive had come off in some places leading to the embarrassment. “It will be set right quickly,” he assured.
But it’s obvious that work had been done hastily before the formal inauguration during the ODI versus England on January 22. There was no accountability and the agency entrusted with the task was intent on doing a quick fix job.
There’s plenty to be set right at the CAB.
