London: Novak Djokovic, after outclassing South Africa's Kevin Anderson in a one-sided Wimbledon final on Sunday for his fourth title at the All England Club and 13th major overall, revealed how he had doubts about himself.

Djokovic, 31, ended a two-year Grand Slam trophy drought to reclaim the crown he first won in 2011 before further successes at the All England Club in 2014 and 2015.

"I had moments of doubt and didn't know if I could compete," Djokovic, watched on by his young son Stefan in the stands, said on Centre Court.

"It's my first Grand Slam final in a couple of years and this is the best place to come back. It's very, very special."

The Serbian, who struggled with an elbow injury last season before undergoing surgery this year, moved above Roy Emerson on the all-time list for most Grand Slam men's singles titles. "I did not expect to be back in the top shape already here in Wimbledon so quickly," Djokovic added.

"If you asked me after Roland Garros, I would probably maybe doubt that. At the same time, there is a part of me that always believes in my own abilities, believes in my own quality of tennis, what I possess.

"Whenever I come to a tournament and Grand Slam especially, I believe that I can have a good opportunity to fight for the trophy," he said.

Djokovic said that this title was all the more significant as he got to lift the trophy in front of his young son Stefan. "It feels amazing because for the first time in my life I have someone screaming 'daddy, daddy' and it's a little boy right there," Djokovic said.

"He's under five years old, so he couldn't watch the matches live, but we hoped if I lifted the trophy he could be there. I'm very emotional and happy for my wife and my whole team."
