Melbourne: Australia’s six-wicket victory over South Africa in the second Twenty20 International has been marred by allegations of a laser light been flashed at fielders of the visiting team forcing Cricket Australia to tender an apology.
Television replays picked up a green streak of light flash across the face of South Africa pacer Wayne Parnell as he dropped a difficult catch offered by Mike Hussey. He went on to make an unbeaten 53 .
Though the South African team did not complaint, CA apologised to the visitors.
“It’s just not cricket to do this sort of thing, it’s stupid,” Cricket Australia’s public affairs manager Peter Young said.
“CA has apologised to them that this has happened while they are guests in this country,” Young was quoted as saying. . (Agencies)
