Antalya (Turkey): Ivana Furtado of India emerged favourite to win the gold medal after Round X of the U-8 girls section of the World Youth Chess Championships.
Ivana beat Gunay Mammadzada of Azerbaijan with black in 54 moves.
Prince Bajaj also stayed in the medal race in the U-10 boys with a victory over American Brian J Luo.
Mary Ann Gomes recovered from two successive losses and is poised to win a medal in the girls U-18 section. Priyanka Kumari (girls U-12) and J. Mohana Priya and Shalmali Gagare (girls U-14) are the other Indians with a chance to win a medal. (PTI)
