SY Quraishi, a member of the Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators (CoA), which is running the day-to-day activities of the All India Football Federation (AIFF), said the panel would invite the Fifa/AFC (Asian Football Confederation) delegation for a dialogue once they arrive in India in the second week of June.

“We are planning to invite them because we know there will be some concerns… we will seek their co-operation and in turn tell them what’s our plan of action,” the former chief election commissioner said from Kathmandu during an informal interaction on Sunday.

Quraishi said the CoA would meet on June 8 to hold discussions with the various stakeholders.

“We have planned our first formal meet at the Football House in New Delhi on June 8 and also speak to the stakeholders. Our job is to finalise the constitution, get the approval of the apex court and immediately thereafter start the electoral process,” he added.

Quraishi said the CoA is not bothered about perceived efforts by some to set a narrative that India is staring at a Fifa ban. “These kind of threats have been there for the last 30 years... I have no doubt that Fifa and AFC have reasonable people and there will not be any misgivings.

“Hopefully it will be a favourable meeting. We will also send the draft constitution to Fifa so that whatever comments they have on the draft they can share with us,” he said.
