A green top at the Bengal Cricket Academy ground in Kalyani awaits Bengal and Baroda as they go into the Ranji Trophy Group A clash from Tuesday.

The conditions, though, shouldn’t be of much worry for Bengal as bowling is their strength. They have a pace attack capable of exploiting a pacer-friendly wicket.

Besides, bolstering Bengal’s pace attack, Mukesh Kumar will join Ishan Porel and Akash Deep as the Manoj Tiwary-led side should be going into this game with an extra bit of confidence.

Mukesh is set to replace Geet Puri, with Bengal set to go in with just a lone spinner in the form of all-rounder Shahbaz Ahmed.

The other left-arm spinner, Pradipata Pramanik, is likely to give way to top-order batter Abhishek Das, who’s set to open alongside the in-form Abhimanyu Easwaran.

Chief selector Chetan Sharma’s presence in Kalyani is a possibility.

The Vishnu Solanki-led Baroda, on the other hand, will rely a fair bit on the astuteness of their head coach Dav Whatmore.
