Kochi: The thrashing from Yuvraj Singh in the World Twenty20 notwithstanding, 21-year-old Stuart Broad figures among the most promising of cricketers.

Indeed, the son of one-time England opener Chris isn’t just a new ball-bowler with potential, but quite a decent bat. That was evident during the recent India versus England ODIs.

Chris is in India as Match Referee for the ongoing India-Australia series, but declined to speak about Stuart.

“I’ve promised my son I won’t talk about him... It’s just that both of us are apprehensive that something I say could get distorted. So, good or bad, I’m keeping mum,” he told The Telegraph.

Chris didn’t compromise as a cricketer and is known to be firm as a Match Referee. A rethink, therefore, is unlikely.
