Calcutta: Think of it... Calcutta holding the centre stage in Madrid…

It could be one of the ways to describe the momentous occasion as Atletico de Kolkata and Atletico Madrid come together at the Estadio Vicente Calderon, on Saturday, when Diego Simeone’s men take on Celta Vigo in a La Liga tie.

During the half-time of this game, the entire Atletico de Kolkata (ATK) team will be introduced to the spectators by club legend Adelardo Rodriguez Sanchez.

This would be a privilege and honour that had never been extended to a team from India on the famous ground, situated on the banks of the Manzanares.

“During the half time of the match between Atletico Madrid and Celta Vigo, the Atletico de Kolkata team will be formally presented and introduced to all the spectators by the legendary Adelardo Rodriguez Sanchez,” the ISL franchise informed in a release on Friday.

The ATK squad, under the guidance of coach Antonio Lopez Habas and his assistant Jose Ramirez Barreto, has been training in Madrid lately and played a few practice matches as well. It’s been a good bit of exposure for the likes of Arnab Mondal and Kinshuk Debnath.
