Chopra falters in final round
Honolulu: Daniel Chopra turned in a three-over 73 — his worst card of the week — to finish tied 32nd in the Sony Open on Sunday. The Indian-born Swede finished with an aggregate of two-under 278.
K.J. Choi went over-par for the first time this week, signing off with a 71. The South Korean held his nerve to triumph at 14-under 266. This was his seventh PGA Tour title. Three shots behind was South African Rory Sabatini, who fired a six-birdie 68 to finish second at 11 under.
Jimenez, Bjorn confirm
New Delhi: Spain’s Miguel Angel Jimenez and Thomas Bjorn of Denmark have confirmed they will play in next month’s Johnnie Walker Classic in India, organisers said on Monday. Britain’s Lee Westwood, Nick Dougherty, Ian Poulter, Colin Montgomerie, Australian Adam Scott and Fiji’s Vijai Singh have already confirmed their participation. The $2.5 million event starts on February 28 at Gurgaon on the outskirts of New Delhi.
Pistorius ineligible
London: South African double amputee Oscar Pistorius, who runs with carbon fibre blades attached to his legs, will not be allowed to compete at this year’s Beijing Olympics. A report commissioned by the IAAF released on Monday concluded that the prosthetics used by Pistorius gave him a significant advantage over able-bodied runners.
