AFC Cup: ATK Mohun Bagan begin camp in Dubai

Coach Antonio Lopez Habas has included Joni Kauko and Tiri in the squad

ATK Mohun Bagan began a six-day training camp in Dubai on Saturday to prepare for their AFC Cup inter-zonal semi-finals against hosts FC Nasaf of Uzbekistan. The match is scheduled for September 22. After the Dubai sessions, ATK Mohun Bagan will also have a four-day camp in Qarshi, Uzbekistan.

Coach Antonio Lopez Habas has included Joni Kauko and Tiri, who did not play in the Group D matches in Maldives last month, in the squad.

“It’s a big game for the players and the ATK Mohun Bagan fans. FC Nasaf are a strong team and we have to be on our toes,” Habas was quoted as saying in a media release.

EB signing

SC East Bengal announced the signing of star Slovenian midfielder Amir Dervisevic on Saturday. The 29-year-old is new head coach Manuel Diaz’ first foreign signing.

Croatia-born Australian defender Tomislav Mrcela and Croatian Franzo Prce are also set to join SC East Bengal.

9.30pm start

Indian Super League (ISL) VIII will see 9.30pm kick-off time for the weekend double headers. This is the first time in ISL history that fans will see late evening weekend kick-offs.

The regular weekday fixture will be a 7.30pm start. The fixtures are likely to be announced by early next week.
