Hyderabad: Seven-time world champion Geet Sethi sweated to the last-eight stage while new world snooker champion Pankaj Advani went down fighting in the pre-quarters of the world billiards championship on Friday.
Also into the quarters were India’s Ashok Shandilya and Australia’s Robby Foldvari, with easy wins. U Kyaw Oo of Myanmar beat Advani 115-113, 151-115, 81-152, 152-77, 37-150, 109-150, 152-135.
Sethi struggled against compatriot Alok Kumar, who gave a splendid display of copybook billiards against the champion before losing out. Lee Lagan of England beat Devendra Joshi of India 30-151, 150-0, 151-144, 150-30,152-67.
Indian pro Nalin Patel and Dhruv Sitwala failed to make it to the knockout stage. (PTI)
