Bhubaneswar, Nov. 13: There couldn’t have been a better ending to Xpressions, the annual festival of Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar (XIMB), than Lucky Ali’s soulful performance at the B-school on Sunday evening.
The singer performed on songs from his newly released album, Raasta Man and other popular Bollywood tracks. The immensely popular O Sanam number from his album, Sunoh, had the crowd drooling.
“The last three days have been very hectic for all of us. This evening, we just gathered around the stage and Lucky Ali’s voice had a calming effect on our tired minds and souls,” said Christopher, a student of XIMB.
The singer, who had recently lent his voice to the Formula One anthem, also performed songs on request, especially from Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, Bachna Ae Haseeno and Sur, a Hindi musical in which he played the lead role.
At the end of the star-studded evening, Lucky Ali and his team, including bass guitarist, Misquah Mubah, percussionist, Muto and Odia flautist, Butto were felicitated by the XIMB authorities.
“I have come to Odisha for the first time and I am overwhelmed with the response of the people here. It is a lovely place and I hope to come back here again,” said Lucky Ali as the jubilant, young crowd broke into a thunderous applause.
Xpressions started with a glitzy launch on November 10 with students burning a wooden “X” signifying the start of the event.
The theme for this year is “Iridescence” or the colourful reflections. Over the last three days, around 50 business and cultural events were conducted on the XIMB campus.
More than 1,500 students from over 70 B-schools and 20 undergraduate colleges across the country participated in the events.
Game committees organised the flagship events such as Gladiator, Kurukshetra, Helios, Skill City and Spardha to test various skills of the participants. The academic committees of XIMB conducted other events including Parikrama, Nirnay, Case in Point, Trade Wars and Mayban. Decibelz, a rock band competition, Carnival De Vogue, a fashion show and fun events such as Thirkan, Goonj and Nukkad were some of the major highlights of the three-day fest.
