Sambalpur, Feb. 13: A 50-year-old woman from Manipur, who had earlier lodged a molest complaint against colonel A.N. Singh, who is posted at the NCC headquarters in Sambalpur, got married with the a rmy man at a city temple.

The woman had earlier accused A.N. Singh of sexually harassing her.

According to her complaint, she had met the colonel in Imphal in 2013 and had been in a relationship with him since then. The colonel also allegedly developed a physical relationship with her and promised her to tie the knot. However, later the colonel had allegedly refused to marry her.

The Manipuri woman had lodged a complaint at the Mahila police station in Sambalpur against the colonel on January 28. She had also called on the Sambalpur superintendent of police, Akhilesvar Singh, in this regard. A case under sections 493 and 354 of the Indian Penal Code was also registered against Singh at the Mahila police station.

The woman was residing at an ashram in Sambalpur after lodging the case and continued her fight for justice. The police had also issued a notice to the colonel.

SP Akhilesvar Singh confirmed the marriage was solemnised. "Though the woman had lodged a case against the colonel, they can now go for a compromise in the court," said Singh.

"They had been in a relationship for the last three years. However, a misunderstanding had taken place between them. The marriage was solemnised in accordance with Hindu rites at a temple in Maneswar," said Kalpana Mishra, a social worker. Mishra was present during the marriage ceremony as a guardian of the woman.
