Koraput: Police have cracked the case of the death of a cluster resource co-ordinator of the school and mass education department and arrested the deceased's wife on charges of abetting her husband's suicide. The cops have also arrested the woman's partner for his role in the crime.

The police named the arrested woman is Namita Sial, while the other accused is Dasarathi Hembrum, assistant executive engineer of the water resources department's mechanical division and posted at Ambaguda. The cops had recovered the half-burnt body of Sandeep Sial, 56, a resident of Ambaguda, near Dangara hill in Borigumma police limits on March 20.

"We first thought it was a case of murder and conducted the investigation accordingly. However, despite all efforts, we could not make headway. We explored all possible angles and during the course of our investigation, we found that Namita had an affair with Hembrum," said Prabhat Pradhan, assistant superintendent of police, Jeypore.

He said Sandeep had come to know about the affair and warned her. But she didn't pay heed.
