Bhubaneswar, Jan. 22: Coloured photo identity cards to newly-registered voters will be issued here from National Voters’ Day on January 25.
State’s chief electoral officer Mona Sharma said electors wishing to replace their laminated black and white photo identity cards with coloured ones, too, could get the same. They will have to apply at the Voter Sahayata Kendra (voter assistance booth) along with prescribed fee of Rs 25 each and their coloured photographs.
A voter assistance booth has been opened at chief electoral officer’s office and one at sub-collector office, she said.
The chief electoral officer advised the voters of Bhubaneswar to verify their names in the electoral roll through the website, voter assistance booth or at the respective polling booth. They can apply for addition, deletion or correction at any of the voter assistance booths by February 7.
Senior citizens or electors above 25, who have shifted from one Assembly constituency to another or are not able to find their names in the electoral roll could apply in form No. 6. They should ensure that part-IV of form No. 6 indicate their previous address and the electors’ photo identity card number, failing which their application would be rejected, said Sharma.
Voters seeking correction should submit documentary proof along with form No. 8. Eligible persons, who have not yet enrolled themselves, can apply in form No. 6 for addition of names. Application in form No. 7 will be received for deletion of names of deceased and those voters, who have shifted to another constituency or their names repeated.
Sharma said about 20 per cent voters in Bhubaneswar were found without their photograph in the electoral roll. These voters can apply in form No. 8 along with a recent photograph.
Arrangements have also been made for videographing electors who have not furnished photographs at their respective voter assistance booths.
