Bhubaneswar, July 27: Vigilance sleuths today raided the residence of a motor vehicle inspector and an executive engineer of Odisha Lift Irrigation Corporation Ltd on charges of amassing wealth disproportionate to their income.
The Bhubaneswar division vigilance sleuths searched the office and city residence of executive engineer Madhusudan Mohapatra at Aiginia. They also raided his paternal house at Tangi in Khurda district.
During the search operation the total movable and immovable assets found was calculated at Rs 68 lakh. The assets included gold and silver ornaments worth around more than Rs 5 lakh.
The Cuttack division of vigilance conducted raids on the residence of motor vehicle inspector Zakir Ahammad Siddique at Chandrasekharpur in Bhubaneswar.
Raids were also conducted at his paternal house in Nakhara on the city outskirts and his office at Bileipada in Keonjhar district.
During the search operation the total moveable and immoveable assets detected was calculated at more than Rs 50 lakh.
The immovable assets included a three-storey lavishly furnished bungalow in Chandrasekharpur.
Sources in the Cuttack vigilance division said that they are yet to calculate the total worth of policy deposits of the motor vehicle inspector. The total value of his assets would go up once this calculation was done.
Siddique earlier used to work on the check gate on Orissa-Chhattisgarh border. He is currently posted in Bileipada check gate in Keonjhar district.
