Cuttack: Court of the district and sessions judge, Cuttack, has fixed July 2 for pronouncing its verdict on the state government's petition for use of video conferencing facility to produce the Dhal Samant brothers before the trial court.
The state government had made the plea for use of video conferencing facility to produce the gangster duo during the course of their trial for kidnapping and murder of two of their associates - Manoj Mallick and Om Prakash Swain -more than four years ago.
While Sushant Dhal Samant is lodged at Balangir jail, Sushil is at Balasore jail.
The state government had contended that producing the two would entail more expenditure. Hence, the request for video conferencing.
Counsel for the Dhal Samant brothers had filed a petition opposing the state government's plea.
District and sessions judge, Cuttack, Satyanarayan Mishra has fixed the date for pronouncing his judgment on July 2 after completion of hearing the arguments of the state government and the counter arguments of the counsel of the Dhal Samants. The hearing was concluded on Monday.
Police had arrested brothers Sushant and Sushil Dhal Samant on January 29, 2016 for alleged involvement in kidnap and murder cases.
