Bhubaneswar: Police have found a possible link of the murder of a 46-year-old man to an obscene video featuring him and a woman shot last year. The half-burnt body of Unmaya Padhi was found on the Kuakhai riverbed on the outskirts of Bhubaneswar on Wednesday morning.

The police said investigation so far revealed that Kharavela Nagar police had arrested the deceased in March last year in connection with the video featuring him and another female employee of an educational organisation run by him. The police said Unmaya used to run the franchise of a Calcutta-based organisation for implementing educational programmes of various state governments.

The 3.39-minute-long clip, however, became viral a few days ago. "Padhi's elder brother identified the man in the video as his younger brother. We suspect the video of having a link with the murder. We are trying to trace the woman hailing from Bhadrak district," said a police officer.

The police found Padhi's body bearing stab injuries and his mouth filled with concrete chips, while a pair of a woman's shoes were also seized from the spot. Besides, the cops found a gutted laptop from the spot, along with a kitchen knife.

"I strongly suspect the involvement of that woman in the murder for that video. Besides, the seizure of a gutted laptop and a damaged pen drive raised suspicion that he was murdered for the video," alleged Padhi's elder brother, Chinmay. The police said the deceased used to stay with his family at BJB Nagar. "He had gone on missing since Tuesday. His family members lodged a missing complaint at Badagada police station on Wednesday, and on the same day, his body was found," said a police official.

Deputy commissioner of police Satyabrata Bhoi said the police were also trying to ascertain any rivalry of the deceased. "We are investigating from all possible angles. We are going through the details of the call records of the victim to get possible clue," said Bhoi.
