Bhubaneswar, Aug. 19: National Institute of Science Education and Research (Niser) here is set to put in place a sophisticated analytical instrument facility, where students and researchers from across the state would get access to world-class instruments for projects.

“It would cater to the needs of researchers, scientists and educational institutions, which do not have such instruments,” said Niser registrar A.K. Naik.

The facility would boast of instruments, vital for pursuing research and development activities in diverse areas of science and technology.

“Analysis in qualitative, quantitative, elemental, molecular, compound analysis, characterisation, structure determination, microstructure analysis and surface topographical studies can be worked out here,” said the official. Moreover, the institute would regularly organise workshops and training programmes to create awareness about various instruments and analytical techniques.

The department of science and technology had recently conducted a study to identify less endowed regions and institutions following which Niser was selected to host and run this facility. According to the operational arrangement, the institute would provide infrastructural facilities and manpower to run it.
