Bhubaneswar: The information and technology department has decided to introduce an exclusive smartphone application to help people reach websites and mobile applications of various departments of the state government from one platform.
The government believes that this will help bring more transparency in governance.
The new smartphone application will be called OdishaOne and is likely to be launched in March. The App will provide a platform where links of various government departments' websites and mobile applications developed by them will be available with easy access to users.
"We are committed to bring transparency and the information and technology plays a pivotal role for this. The aim is to provide quality service to citizens. The new application will ease the job for people who are unaware of the wide range of online services of the government," said an official of the information and technology department.
At present, 38 departments are functioning under the state government, of which 20 have their own independent websites. The remaining departments have their portals managed by dedicated portal teams of the state information and technology department.
"We have an application to receive grievances related to various civic issues. It becomes a bridge between our officials and the citizens. I hope a comprehensive app, such as OdishaOne, will ease the job further for other departments," said mayor Ananta Narayan Jena.
People have welcomed the move. "Many people are using smartphones. I hope OdishaOne will help serve the purpose," said IT engineer Udaynath Sahu.
