Bhubaneswar, Sept. 3: In two separate cases, the state's economic offences wing (EOW) arrested two persons and produced them before court.

The EOW today held Janardan Sahoo for in different districts of the state.

The EOW yesterday held Asish Tiwari, the director of Deseed Benefit Fund Limited, for collecting public deposits under different schemes. He lured investors with the promise of lucrative interest rates.

Sources said Tiwari's firm had been operating illegally from Samantarapur. The directors claimed that the company was approved by the Reserve Bank of India as a Nidhi company (which allows borrowing and lending money only between members), though it had no authority to conduct business in the state, the police said.
