Twist to sex clip case

A day after police hinted at a thorough interrogation of the girlfriend of the engineering student, who allegedly shot the sex video featuring mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, she today denied having any relationship with the deceased.

Bhubaneswar, Dec. 30: A day after police hinted at a thorough interrogation of the girlfriend of the engineering student, who allegedly shot the sex video featuring mayor Ananta Narayan Jena, she today denied having any relationship with the deceased.

Yesterday, the girl had approached the Odisha Human Rights Commission alleging that her name was being dragged in the issue unnecessarily and asked for the commission to step in.

"He was only my friend while both of us were pursuing Plus Two in a city-based private college. I don't know anything about his death and will tell the truth before the police. I don't know how the controversial sex tape came into fore," said the girl to the media.

Opposition Congress and BJP today raised question on the role of a social activist, who accompanied the girl to the rights office. The Opposition parties allege that the social activist of being a member of the ruling party and having close rapport with the mayor.

"There are several photographs of the woman social activist with Jena when he sat on an agitation in front of Capital police station after the sex video surfaced. The woman has accompanied the girlfriend of the deceased as an agent of the mayor. The police should verify her call records and must bring her into the investigation's purview," alleged the National Students' Union of India state president Itish Kumar Pradhan.

Similarly, the BJP's state vice-president Sameer Mohanty also demanded the woman to be interrogated by the police. "The woman was seen with the mayor on several occasions. This proves that the mayor is protecting himself through the woman. The police should interrogate her," alleged Mohanty.

The Cuttack city Congress today submitted a memorandum to the district collector and governor S.C. Jamir demanding Jena's resignation and a CBI probe into the incident.
