Bhubaneswar, Nov. 25: In a new twist to the Dushmant Panda-Priti Mohanty controversy, Mahila police today registered a case against the actor following a complaint filed by Priti, who is claiming that she is his wife.

The 24-year-old girl has alleged that Dushmant ditched her after two years of cohabitation to tie the nuptial knot with actress Kajal Mishra.

Kajal, who wed Dushmant on November 15 at a notary office, also lodged a complaint against Priti with the Mahila police this afternoon. Kajal said she would be getting married to Dushmant on November 27 in traditional style, but Priti was making all efforts to “ruin her big day” by sending threat messages to her, Dushmant and their family members.

“Priti is threatening to press rape charges against my Dushmant if he gets married to me on November 27. She is trying her best to stall the marriage,” said Kajal, adding that since the matter had been blown out of proportion, she was forced to make a public appearance and seek help of the police.

“These baseless allegations have tarnished our reputation. There is no concrete evidence to prove that Dushmant had married her or had been living-in with her. I want my marriage to be conducted peacefully. If she continues to harass me, Dushmant or our family members, then I will be forced to take legal action against her,” Kajal said.

Priti had been sent to the Capital Hospital this morning for medical examination to confirm allegations of a physical relationship with Dushmant. “I have great respect for Kajal. She is like an elder sister to me. Therefore, it is out of the question to send any threat messages to her or harass her family members. However, since Dushmant has played with my feelings and ditched me after living-in with me, I want him to be arrested,” said Priti.

The controversy of Dushmant’s marriage with Priti came to light after she lodged a complaint with the State Commission for Women (SCW) on Wednesday, alleging that the actor cheated her after a two-year live-in relationship. Priti had also had staged a dharna in front of the Mahila police station yesterday.

Priti alleged that Dushmant had fallen in love with Kajal two months ago after meeting her on a reality television show. “They had paired up for the show and that is how they got close to each other. He even admitted to me that he had fallen for Kajal. But when I approached her, she said she had no such feelings for him. Incidentally, Kajal was engaged to someone else at that point, but later eloped with Dushmant and got married to him,” she said.

“I have all the evidence to get him arrested. Dushmant and I had visited my family at Talcher after our marriage. I also have photographs of him with my family members,” said Priti. “We have registered Priti’s case and also got a complaint from Kajal. We are probing the matter and will take appropriate action,” said a cop at Mahila police station.
