Bhubaneswar, May 26: Books are proving handy to fight emotional problems. In fact, a number of youngsters in the city took to this technique yesterday to find solutions to their confusions and problems.
Attending an innovative and interesting session of bibliotherapy conducted by Mumbai-based clinical psychoanalyst Sonia Mackwani, young students and professionals from various fields said they found astonishing results on consulting books.
More than 20 participants who attended the session were first instructed to hold hands and form a circle. Mackwani then advised them to imagine a sphere of white light placed on their head and strongly think of their question or problem. “Just like she kept instructing we could feel the rays rooting into the body of all participants and then connecting to the earth in a process she named ‘connect-grounding’. All of us then felt bonded to each other,” said Twinkle, a corporate employee.
“The next step was to keep the hands on the heart and think of the question,” she said. The participants then chose books randomly and held it with closed eyes, meditating, so as to form a bond with the book. Opening up a page arbitrarily then gives the solution to the problem.
“It was wonderful to find the answer in the text in the form of a group of words that somehow indicated an answer. The experience was thrilling and I couldn’t believe I had found an answer,” said Debi Prasad Sahoo, a participant.
“The entire process made me feel vibrations of positive energy right from the beginning and I started to come out of depression,” said Hriday, another young participant.
According to Mackwani, one can perceive life messages through books. “When you imagine the white light entering your body, you accept the positive energy around you. This connects the visible world you live in with the invisible world that has solutions to all our problems,” said Mackwani. “Bibliotherapy is very popular across the globe and one becomes confident about a decision when a book suggests it through signs,” she said.
Held at Bakul Foundation, the session lasted just about an hour. But the participants continued the process to explore solutions of more questions through bibliotherapy.
