Students take part in a parade to celebrate foundation day of the state capital in front of the Assembly on Monday. The state government celebrated the day with much fanfare. Bhubaneswar became the state capital on April 13, 1948.

Students take part in a parade to celebrate foundation day of the state capital in front of the Assembly on Monday. 
The state government celebrated the day with much fanfare. Bhubaneswar became the state capital on April 13, 1948. The main attraction of the event was a civil parade by students of 55 different schools and colleges in the city. 
Children also presented various skating skills and acrobatics. “It felt great to display our skills in front of a crowd on such a grand occasion. We gave our best and it will be one of the most memorable days in our life,” said a participant. Units of different schools that performed well in the parade were rewarded. Even the kids who enthralled the audience with their skating shows also awarded with special prizes. Besides, 13 renowned personalities who have achieved success in different fields were awarded with Rajdhani Gourav Samman- 2015. A new website — www.cdcc-bbsr.com — for Capital Day Celebration Committee, which is a public-private initiuative, was launched on Monday. A photo exhibition  was also organised at Jaydev Bhavan by the state information and public relation department.
