Kendrapara, April 2: An 18-year-old girl was allegedly gangraped ot a sea beach under Mahakalpada police jurisdiction here on Friday. The case was perpetrated by a few youths after tying one of the victim’s kin to a tree.

The incident, according to police sources, took place on Tanda sea beach during the evening hours yesterday.

“Five youths in an inebriated state took turns to sexually assault the victim. The most shocking aspect of the incident was that the culprits raped the victim after overpowering her male relative. The male relative was giving her company during a stroll on the beach when the incident took place. As he offered resistance to their sexual advances, they tied him to a tree and physically abused her one after the other,” said Pravas Kumar Pal, inspector, Mahakalpada police station.
