Rourkela, July 10: Jhirpani police arrested an IT professional from Bhubaneswar for creating a fake account and posting the photographs of a married woman from the steel city in some social networking sites.

The police said the accused, Dillip Kumar Panda, 25, who hails from Balibasta village in the Gop police station area in Puri district, was working as an IT engineer in a private firm in the city. The police have seized his Micromax mobile phone and two hard disks with scores of women’s pictures.

Panda was sent to judicial custody following rejection of his bail plea by a local court today. The police said that on June 24, one person lodged a complaint that his wife’s photograph had been posted on a Facebook community having sexual contents. He also found his wife’s photos in another site with explicit contents.

Acting on the complaint, the police registered a case under various sections of the Information Technology (IT) Act. Investigating officer of the case said the accused had created a community on Facebook in the name of Find Odia Sex Partner and posted photos of several women, including the complainant’s wife. Besides, he had also uploaded her photos on a dating website.

“On verification, it was found that one Rakesh Mishra was the administrator of this community. We found that Rakesh was based in Bhubaneswar. We had approached the Facebook authorities to obtain the Uniform Resource Locator code and Internet Protocol number of the user,” said Rourkela police superintendent Amitendra Nath Sinha.

The police created an account on Facebook and sent friend request to Rakesh to establish communication with him. During chatting over the social media, the police officers got to know that originally the account holder was Dillip Kumar Panda. Accordingly, the police conducted a raid and arrested him from Bhubaneswar.

A police official said that during interrogation, Panda said he used to check accounts of various women and upload the photographs of beautiful women on that community page and other websites.
