Cuttack, Sept. 10: Self-styled spiritual leader Surendra Mishra alias Sura owns around 85 acres at prime locations in several parts of the country, including Bihar, Bengal and Uttar Pradesh.
After the scrutiny of land records, the crime branch has found that Sura's Achyutananda Ashram Trust possesses nearly 37 acres across the state.
A senior crime branch official said the guru and his family holds another 48 acres in several parts of the state and country.
Earlier, the crime branch had recovered 300 land documents during a search at Trahi Achyuta Ashram near Bhubaneswar.
The investigating agency has found that Sura owns an acre in Varanasi. He has encroached on eight acres at Kakatpur in Puri district.
Besides, Sura's son Trilochan owns around 28 acres, the crime branch official said.
The investigating agency said various teams would shortly move out to Bihar, Bengal and Uttar Pradesh to collect information about the land deals made by Sura, his sons and the ashram trust.
It has also started the process of retrieving data from a hard disk and a laptop that had earlier been recovered from Trilochan.
Trilochan was produced before the judicial magistrate first class court in Bhubaneswar after his three days of extended remand ended today. He was sent to Jharpada jail after his bail plea was rejected.
Crime branch sources said they would again seek Trilochan's remand for further investigation.
