T2 Checks Out What The Youngsters In Capital Are Wearing This Season Published 16.05.12, 12:00 AM

It’s hot and humid and there is no sign of rain. But you can’t let the weather get the better of you. So, we at t2 got together a few fashionistas from the city to tell you how to soak up the sun in style

Model: Vishal, sales executive

The look: A cotton capri teemed up with a cotton

T-shirt is all that Vishal needs to keep him cool this summer. What keeps his style-o-meter ahead of the rest is a cotton scarf that is in sync with his capri. He wraps it around his neck to give a chic effect to the otherwise dull attire.

Vishal says: “I blindly trust my capris. It not only suits the street fashion but is also fit for all occasions.”

Style tip: A pair of chappals completes the capri look.

Model: Sikata, final-year student of University Law College

The look: The long flowing skirts work best in summers. While dark hues are not a favourite of many this season, Sikata carries off her maroon wrap-around with élan. She prefers teaming it up with a breezy and trendy top to keep up the cool quotient. Matching with her maroon attire is a contrasting jhola, which is quintessential for a smart college goer. Skirts are Sikata’s perennial favourite. Be it cotton or light crushed synthetic, she prefers to keep her attire mono-coloured with a subtle hint of contrast. Her beige skirt and cropped top coupled with a low ponytail gives the perfect college student look.

Sikata says: “For me comfort is synonymous with summer style. In this sticky summer, I just can’t think of wearing denim or high-heeled boots even if it’s the latest fad.”

Style tip: Avoid the sun with a cool pair of glares.

Model: Shobhana, MBBS student

The look: Shobhana loves elegance and that reflects in her style of dressing. To beat the humidity, Shobhana swears by her white knee-length balloon hemline dress, which keeps the heat at bay. The airy cut of the dress is ideal for the weather and Shobhana accessorises it with a pendant to add a touch of glamour.

Shobhana says: “I mostly prefer cotton wear in light colours, white being my favourite. Even my accessories are light, classy ones.”

Style tip: A Fedora hat can never fall flat.

Model: Shagufta and Rajeev, students at Odisha Engineering College

The look: A white shirt/T-shirt paired with blue jeans completes the “hunk” look for any guy and Rajeev loves to keep it that way. His straight-cut jeans and loose fitted cotton T-shirt is simple and cool.

Shagufta in her light-blue kurti and white legging looks equally appealing.

Rajeev says: “I don’t believe in following the trend; rather I’d be a trend-setter. Summers are the right time to experiment with fashion but I do not make the mistake of going OTT.”

Style tip: Invest in buying a few crisp white shirts or tees.

Model: Shagufta, second-year student at Odisha Engineering College

The look: Indo-ethnic wear can never go wrong in summers. Shagufta chooses to keep it simple with a short mustard kurti and a white patiala. To add some more colour and glamour to her look, Shagufta chooses a vibrant jhola over make-up.
A wise decision indeed!

Shagufta says: “I hate bling. I keep it as simple as possible and cotton is my favourite during summers.”

Style tip: Peep-toes look cute even with patialas. So bring them on.
