Bhubaneswar, March 13: Students across the state will put their thinking caps on. A group of 10 boys of Ravenshaw University has come up with a knowledge-based reality show exclusively meant for college students.
The team that calls itself “3B Group” is hosting the show in association with The Telegraph. The event is themed on the lines of Kaun Banega Crorepati.
All the hostels of the Ravenshaw University engage in an annual high-octane quiz tournament. The friendly yet fierce championship and the pride associated with it gave this group of students from various branches an idea to organise the quiz on a grand scale.
Khel, their brainchild, is a quiz competition where college-goers from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and other district headquarter towns take part. The group has also got a nod from Doordarshan Odia as the broadcast partner.
About 500 students have submitted their entries for the show. The participants have been divided into 50 groups and one would be selected from each group through a draw of lots. The selected 50 contestants would play Khel that would be hosted by popular television anchor Ankit. Each participant would be asked 10 questions. Though there would be no cash prizes unlike Kaun Banega Crorepati, exciting gifts would delight the contestants.
While the inauguration ceremony would take place on March 16, the real showdown would be on March 19. The show would take place at the Kala Vikas Kendra, the famed auditorium of Cuttack. Songs by Satyajit and performance by dance troupe Rhythmatz would bring the required dose of entertainment to the quiz show.
“It is a quiz reality show for creating competitive spirit among youth,” said Rakesh Kumar Behera, 22-year-old student of the varsity. The group members are also indebted to their teacher Sudarshan Mishra for his continuous support.
“The shooting of the event would be done by a team of professional cameramen and the raw footage would be edited and shown on DD Odia on that weekend,” said Mahendra Nayak, another student organiser of the quiz show.
