Rourkela: Additional director-general of police (crime branch) S.K. Upadhyay, who visited police stations and looked into their functioning, stressed on increasing patrol to control crime and for intelligence gathering.
"The foot and armed patrolling of the police will be further enhanced, so that there will be a sense of security among the residents. Besides, this will create a fear in the minds of the criminals. Rourkela police, given its geographic status, will work in the fashion of the metro police," he said.
Upadhyay also emphasised on the importance of CCTV surveillance. "They are helpful in tracking criminals and steps are being initiated in this regard<>," he said.
He instructed the police to install CCTV cameras at the bus stand and railway station. "The criminal elements mostly transit through the bus stand and railway stations. These areas should be properly covered under CCTV camera. My instruction to Rourkela police are to bring these two immediately under surveillance," he said.
"We have a very well-coordinated relation with our neighbouring states such as Jharkhand, Bihar, Bengal and Chhattisgarh. We have prepared a thorough database of the interstate criminals, and this is being exchanged among these states."
"To control cyber crime, we need trained officers. All our inspectors-in-charge and other officers are being trained. Our officers are good at cyber activities, for which we have been able to track any cyber related criminal activities."
