Students carry out clean drive in Bhubaneswar

Annual day events

Students of Little Angels' School at Khatbin Sahi in Cuttack took to the stage to celebrate their annual programme and share the warmth of the festive season. The choir treated the audience to festive numbers. Children aged three-five years performed on stage and enjoyed dancing to the melodies.

St Xavier International School celebrated its annual day with colourful cultural performances including dance, music and play. Bhubaneswar north MLA Priyadarshi Mishra was chief guest at the event.

The 45rd annual day- Anoogoonj 2016 of DAV Public School, Unit-VIII - brought out the essence of unity in cultural diversity. AIIMS Bhubaneswar director Geetanjali Padmanabhan spoke on the occasion. Young Odissi dancers took to the stage and gave a great start to the evening that saw a colourful array of dance, music and plays.

Winners all

Wood Apple, a school for special children, organised Little Miss and Little Master 2016 under Shree Sainiketan Trust at the auditorium of Regional Science Park. Children from various schools took part in the event. The trust has been working since long for children, women and the underprivileged. SCB Medical College associate professor Smita Mishra was chief guest at the event and helped judge the winners.

Youth awards

Three students of DAV Public School, Chandrasekharpur, received the Odisha Youth Innovation Award-2016 from chief minister Naveen Patnaik for innovative ideas. Each of them received Rs 50,000 cash for their ideas, which have potential for being good business models.

The students are Srujani Routray of Class X, Dyutirupa Padhihary of Class XI and Sidhant Patnaik of Class VIII. The state government awarded 20 youths for their innovative ideas this year.

Clean drive

A 33-member team of Sai International School scouts and guides, along with two leaders, took part in a clean campaign at Jaydev Pitha in Kenduli Sasan of Khurdha district.

The troupe of 22 scouts and the company of 11 guides belonging to the school walked all the way from Kenduli bus stand to Jaydev Pitha.

They then cleaned the premises of the ashram of the legendary poet.

They also carried out cleaning activities on the premises of a Shiv temple in the nearby village, before walking back to the bus stand. The students explored the village and were briefed on the birthplace of Jaydev.

Model school

Sukinda MLA Pritiranjan Gharai recently inaugurated a model school constructed by Tata Steel at Gohirapatuli in Ranipada panchayat of Jajpur district. Tata Steel has spent around Rs 4.57 crore to set up the school.
