Cuttack, Oct. 20: City police today claimed to have solved the murder case of 19-year-old girl who was shot dead last week by her cousin for dispute over family property at Pithapur.

All the five accused were the friends of Sunil Prusty and they used to frequently meet at a teashop at Nuabazar area in the city.

It may be recalled that Sunita Prusty, 19, was shot dead by her cousin Sunil Prusty at around 10.45pm on October 11.
The police said there was a dispute between Sunita’s father Digambar and two of her uncles — Gadadhar and Hrushikesh — over parental property.
On October 11, there was an exchange of words between Sunita’s father Digambar and Hrushikesh over the property. At around 9pm, Digambar along with his brother Gadadhar had registered a police complaint and the latter took Hrusikesh eventually for verification.
Enraged over the incident, Hrushikesh’s son Sunil — who was not at home at that time — along with five of his friends came in three motorcycles and fired three bullets at Sunita after a brief altercation.
All the accused have been booked under Section 120(B), 302, 506, 34 of the Indian Penal Code and 25, 27 Arms Act who have been produced before the court in evening, police said.
